Francis Petcare Hospital provides urgent veterinary care during regular clinic hours only. We do not operate overnight or on Sundays.

If your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency outside our hours — such as severe trauma, difficulty breathing, collapse, or uncontrolled bleeding — please contact a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

During clinic hours, call us first. We will do our best to see urgent cases same-day when availability permits.

When to Call

Signs That Warrant Same-Day Attention

If your pet shows any of these signs during clinic hours, call us to describe the symptoms. Early action often prevents more serious outcomes.

Exotic Pets (Rabbits, Reptiles, Small Mammals)

  • Rabbit not eating or producing droppings
  • Reptile breathing changes or open-mouth breathing
  • Small mammal hunched posture or lethargy
  • Sudden appetite loss in any exotic pet
  • Swelling, lumps, or visible injury
  • Discharge from eyes, nose, or mouth

Dogs & Cats

  • Not eating for 24+ hours
  • Repeated vomiting or diarrhea
  • Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing
  • Sudden weakness or collapse
  • Bleeding or visible injury
  • Severe lethargy or unresponsiveness
  • Straining to urinate (especially male cats)
  • Unusual behaviour or disorientation
